Alpina XD3 Biturbo

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

Alpina has presented its own take on the BMW X3 today at the kickoff of the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. At its heart is a straight-six, full-aluminum 3.0-liter engine with two turbochargers, common-rail direct injection and variable turbine geometry. It has a maximum output of 350 HP (257 kW) at 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) reached between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm.
Despite the powerful engine, the Alpina XD3 Biturbo manages to have a fuel consumption of only 6.8 liters / 100 km (41.5 mpg US or 34.5 mpg UK) while CO2 emissions stand at 180 g/km. This was possible thanks to the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission designed specifically for this model.
Other highlights of this heavily modified X3 include electronically-adjustable dampers, 20-inch Alpina Classic wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport low-profile tires, custom exhaust manifold, stainless steel exhaust system with dual double-ended tailpipes, along with several interior enhancements such as a sport steering wheel with blue/green stitching, door sills, floor mats, gear indicator and a digital speed read-out.
