VW Touareg widebody by JE Design

Saturday, October 22, 2011

German tuner JE Design has a new wide-body kit for the VW Touareg range, including the R-Line.

For the body kit JE Design fits a new sport grille, front spoiler, front and rear widening wheel arches, a rear apron insert and a tailgate panel that provides a distinct style to the Touareg.

The tuner offers power boosting too on the Touareg range including on the 4.2 liter TDI. By means of an ECU remap output is boosted from the series 340 PS (250 kW / 335 hp) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque to 410 PS (302 kW / 404 hp) and 930 Nm (686 lb-ft) on the large diesel unit.

That extra power is good for a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 5.4 seconds on the hefty Touareg (instead of the standard 5.8 seconds) while top speed rises from 242 km/h (150 mph) to 269 km/h (167 mph).

JE Design offers its own SUV-Select 10 x 22-inch rims wrapped in ultra high-performance tires sized 295/30R22. A wheel spacer kit (30 millimetres in front, 40 millimetres in the rear) is also fitted to make sure the wheels look at home in the new arches.

A suspension-lowering module brings the SUV 35 mm closer to the ground while a dual-exhaust system with stainless steel oval pipes is part of package too.

For the interior is a full Alcantara finish for the dashboard, door panels and the roof liner.

Volkswagen Touareg II: Royal GT 470 by Hofele Design

Hofele Design has unveiled a new tuning program for the Volkswagen Touareg II.

Dubbed the Royal GT 470, the package features a revised grille, modified fascias, wheel arch extensions and a stainless steel four-tailpipe exhaust system. Customers can also order an electric lowering module (which reduces the ride height by 40mm when parked or traveling at speeds less than 80 kph /50 mph) and 20- to 22-inch alloy wheels.

Under the hood, the 3.0-liter TDI engine can be equipped with a revised ECU which enables it to produce 275 PS (202 kW / 271 hp) and 580 Nm (428 lb-ft) of torque - an increase of 35 PS (26 kW / 35 hp) and 80 Nm (59 lb-ft). Thanks to the extra power, the SUV can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 229 km/h (142 mph).

Taking a break from what seems like an endless string of tuned Porsche Cayenne's on steroids, someone finally paid attention to its more mainstream VW Group sibling, the second generation Volkswagen Touareg.

From Leingarten, Germany, JE Design has prettied the SUV up with a widebody kit consisting of a front spoiler, wheelhouse arch extensions, rear apron insert, roof spoiler and rear hatch blend, all for 5355 Euro including VAT. Dual exhaust pipes with either round or trapezium shaped tips are available for 595 Euro. Topping-off the wide body look is a set of 22 inch wheels which can be custom painted.

For performance JE Design has optimsed the engine management on the 3.0-liter TSFI-engine providing 440 hp (324 kW) verus the standard 379 hp (279 kW). Torque bumps up from 580 to 630 Nm. As a result, 0-100 kph takes 5.9 instead of 6.5 seconds and the top speed raises to 255 km/h instead of 240. The cost is 3999 Euro which includes one year warranty for the engine, turbo, transmission and the power train and can be extended to two years for an additional 199 Euro.

Pneumatic electronic suspension lowering module which lowers the vehicles 35 mm adds another 1428 Euro, however the entire package including assembly, paint and TÜV registration is available for 21,105 Euro.
